Welcome to Sophomore English. This year you will read a lot and write a lot. The only way to become a better writer is to read as many interesting, enjoyable, and challenging texts as possible. It is through reading that you absorb, almost through osmosis, the elements of good writing. Writing about and discussing your reading helps you clarify your ideas and opinions and become better readers.
We will be using this blog for much of our class writing this year. You will be able to read classmates' entries and comment on them, and your parents can follow you work online.
I encourage collaboration and will teach you some tools to help you do that productively and enjoyably.
Please be prepared to really dig in, read and write every day, and to actively participate in class discussions. Thank you!
